Winnifred “Teddy” Fischer

Winnifred “Teddy” Fischer, 77, Hibbing passed away Friday, June 17, 2016 at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born on April 11, 1939 to Herman and Marie (Sondergaard) Otto in Hutchinson, MN.  Teddy attended Hutchinson schools and was very athletic.  She loved ice skating, being the 1 st to swim in the Crow River before the ice was out, and roller skating.  In fact, she met Curt Fischer while roller skating at the age of 13.  They later married on April 18, 1958.  Teddy had been employed detassling corn in her youth to working at 3M, Spies, Hibbing Electronics, and Marvin Windows.  She also flew fire patrol with Curt as pilot and she as observer/reporter.  In the 70’s she attended beauty school and earned her license.  Teddy loved their trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Florida.  She enjoyed spending precious time with her family, doing crosswords and scrabble, fishing at Cass Lake, old movies, laughing and making her own fun!

Teddy and Curt had 4 children they dedicated their lives and their love to them.  Family was always the 1 st priority.  They loved their children, adored their grandchildren, and were over the moon for their great-granddaughter.

Teddy is survived by her beloved husband Curtis Fischer, children, Torie (Fischer) Kutz, Lorie (Gary) Grangruth, and Travis Fischer all of Hibbing, grandchildren, Ryan Kutz, Grand Forks, ND, Tara (Chad) Hokuf, Bemidji, MN, Jace (Lindsay) Grangruth, Bemidji,  Gage Fischer, Hibbing, and Jade Anderson, Hibbing, great-granddaughter, Avery Hokuf, Bemidji, MN, and sister, Audrey (Dale) Carlson, Rosemount, MN.

She was preceded in death by her son in 1978, her parents, brother Edward Otto, and her sister, Ruth Lickfelt.

Teddy was an amazingly strong, fiercely protective, huge hearted, beautifully souled wife, mother, and friend.  Our hearts are broken but we will heal knowingly she is free from suffering.  She will be missed beyond measure, eternally loved and we will forever try to follow the path that she left for us… for love is what she always taught and love is what we learned

Funeral services for Teddie will be 1:00pm, Friday, June 24, 2016 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Kris Geer will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
