Roger Provencher

May 24, 1936 — June 21, 2015

Roger Winfield Provencher
Roger W. Provencher, 79, Minneapolis and Nashwauk passed away peacefully with family by his side on Father’s Day at Light House Assisted Living in Cloquet, MN. He was born on May 24, 1936, to Hector C. and Ellen (Heath) Provencher in Barclay Township. Roger was a longtime employee at Kuether Distributing as a driver and warehouse worker and he also worked for Crown Oil. His pastimes were many: Roger was a workaholic, he loved working outside at the lake home on Shoal Lake, working with machinery, splitting wood, and he was known to be extremely mechanical. He also loved taking saunas, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, and animals, especially his dog, Lucky. Although he was a man of few words, he always enjoyed spending time with any company that would stop by. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Balsam Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Provencher, Minneapolis, MN; two children, Jocelyn Provencher, Minneapolis, and Justin Peterson, Blaine, MN; his siblings, Kendall (Gail) Provencher, Big Lake, MN, Sharon Laakso, Nashwauk, Audrey (Bill) Lake, of both Ohio and Nashwauk, MN, Carol (Frank) Stuntebeck, also of Nashwauk, and Jack (Karen) Provencher, Hermantown, MN; six grandchildren: Cole, Alyssa, Alexus, Landon, Isabella, and Jaxson Roger; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved grand-dog, Mambo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ted Provencher; and sister, Inez Straw.
Funeral services for Roger will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. Steve Tomberlin will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday. Interment will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Monday, June 29, 2015, at 12:30 PM, Assembly Area #5. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
